Toronto, June 18, 2018 — The Alithya Group (“Alithya”), a leading strategy and digital technology consulting firm in Canada, is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Pickering, nearby Toronto.
Since the acquisition of Systemware Innovation Corporation (“SWI”) in April 2017, Alithya’s growth in Ontario has been substantial over the last year. The company has been a key contributor to the Canadian Nuclear Industry providing applications and engineering services for controls, safety shutdown systems, fuel channel inspection, and cyber security.
“The opening of our new office strengthens our commitment to the energy sector and the local community” said Ed Mischkot, Vice President Energy. “Our experience in nuclear spans almost four decades and ranges from architecting and implementing complex technology systems to delivering Machine Learning and Analytics solutions. By expanding our footprint, we can now serve our customers better, and continue to support innovation.”
Alithya held the opening of the new Pickering facility on June 7, 2018, with the Mayor of Pickering, Dave Ryan, and Glenn Jager, President, Nuclear, Ontario Power Generation in attendance. Guests toured the facility, including the specialized Engineering Technology (EngTech) Lab which serves as a research, prototyping, simulation, development, and testing center for all in-house control system projects. They were also educated on Alithya’s breadth of expertise through different demos.
“It is important for us to recognize the ongoing commitment of supply partners such as Alithya, who provide innovative solutions to the nuclear industry across the province and to Ontario Power Generation (OPG)” said Glenn Jager, President, Nuclear, OPG. “With a local office now open in Pickering, we look forward to ongoing collaboration as the industry continues to evolve.”
Pickering Mayor Dave Ryan also expressed his support by stating “Pickering is proud to welcome Alithya as its presence strengthens our renowned EN3 cluster of Energy, Environmental, and Engineering companies.” said Mayor Dave Ryan. “We are thankful for the support Alithya continues to provide to OPG. Together, we are helping to strengthen Ontario’s energy landscape.”
Alithya’s experts have delivered hundreds of projects in the energy industry for all Canadian nuclear generators including OPG. The team has successfully delivered services and solutions spanning from the design and development of safety-critical shutdown systems (Category I) and reactor control systems (Category II) to monitoring and display systems (Category III), and most recently to plant data historians (e.g., PI).
